Phone Touch Test — Screen
Getting Started
How do I run a test?
Open the app and tap a test on the dashboard — Quick Test, Dead-Zone Grid, Ghost-Touch Monitor, Multi-Touch, Edge Sensitivity, Haptic Touch, or Palm Rejection. Follow the on-screen prompt; the result screen shows a plain-language verdict you can review, save, or export.
What's the Full Diagnostic?
The Full Diagnostic runs every individual test back-to-back and combines them into a single overall pass / warning / fail verdict — the fastest way to check a phone end to end. It's part of the Pro subscription.
What do Pass, Warning, and Fail mean?
Pass means the test found no issues. Warning means it found something borderline worth re-running to confirm (for example, one or two phantom touches). Fail means it detected behavior consistent with a hardware problem, such as a dead zone or repeated ghost touches.
The Tests
How does the Ghost-Touch Monitor work?
Place your phone face-up on a flat surface and don't touch it. Any touch the screen registers during the timed window is counted as a phantom (ghost) touch and logged with its location and timestamp. 0 touches passes, 1–2 is a warning, and 3 or more suggests a likely digitizer issue. Free users get a 30-second window; Pro unlocks 60s and 120s. Tip: turn off Eye Tracking (Settings ▸ Accessibility) for accurate results.
How do I map a dead zone?
In the Dead-Zone Grid, drag your finger to paint across the whole screen. Any cell you can't activate is highlighted as an unresponsive area — the iPhone analog of Android's hidden touch-test menu.
Why did a ghost touch get counted when I didn't touch the screen?
That's exactly what the monitor is for — but a few things can cause false positives: an accidental bump of the surface, a case or screen protector pressing the edges, moisture on the glass, or accessibility features like Eye Tracking. Re-run on a clean, flat surface to confirm a real issue.
Reports & Privacy
What's in the PDF report?
The exported PDF includes a touch heatmap, a pass/fail table for each test, the ghost-touch log with timestamps, and device info. It's designed to attach to an AppleCare claim or a resale listing. Export and PDF reports are a Pro feature.
Where does my test data go?
It stays on your iPhone. The App does not upload your touch data or reports to any server — every diagnostic runs on-device. You can confirm by enabling Airplane Mode; the tests still work. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
What permissions does the app need?
Almost none. Phone Touch Test does not request your microphone, camera, contacts, location, or photo library — it only reads touch input on its own screen. Notifications are optional.
Free vs Pro
What's free vs Pro?
Free: 3 Quick Tests per day, a Dead-Zone Grid demo, a 30-second Ghost-Touch Monitor, unlimited Multi-Touch, and your most recent session saved — with ads. Pro: all 7 tests and the Full Diagnostic with unlimited runs, longer ghost-touch windows (60s & 120s), unlimited history with before/after comparison, PDF report export, and zero ads.
How much is Pro?
Pro Weekly is $2.99/week, or Pro Annual is $19.99/year (save 87%). There is no free trial.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open the paywall or Settings inside the App and tap "Restore Purchases". This re-applies your active subscription if you've previously purchased one on this Apple ID.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open the iOS Settings app, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find Phone Touch Test and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
